  12. NCC1701 is a faithful adaptation of the mainframe classic
  13. Star Trek updated for Windows 3.1 with graphic animation,
  14. an extensive context sensitive help file, and remarkable
  15. ease of use lending itself to play with either mouse or
  16. keyboard. This beauty will make you feel like you're in
  17. command on the NCC-1701's Bridge.

  21. NCC1701 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  22.  
  23. 1) Create a directory for NCC1701 and move to the directory.
  24.  
  25.    example: c:
  26.             md\ncc1701
  27.             cd\ncc1701
  28.  
  29. 2) Copy all NCC1701 files to the NCC1701 directory.
  30.  
  31.    example: copy a:NCC1701.* c:
  32.  
  33.             optional copying
  34.  
  35.             copy a:README.TXT c:
  36.             copy a:RELEASE.TXT c:
  37.             copy a:ORDER.TXT c:

  40. 3) (Optional) If you plan to use other software requiring
  41.    the Visual Basic Version 2.0 Run Module (VBRUN200.DLL),
  42.    you may want to copy the VBRUN200.DLL run-time file to
  43.    your Windows directory and erase the VBRUN200.DLL in
  44.    the NCC1701 Directory.

  46.    example: copy VBRUN200.DLL c:\windows
  47.             erase VBRUN200.DLL
  48.  
  49. 4) Start Windows and, from the Program Manager:
  50.  
  51.             pull down the File Menu, and choose New
  52.             
  53.             when the NEW PROGRAM OBJECT dialog box appears,
  54.             choose PROGRAM ITEM and click on OK
  55.             
  56.             when the PROGRAM ITEM PROPERTIES dialog box appears,
  57.             type "NCC-1701" into Description,
  58.                  "c:\ncc1701\ncc1701.exe" into Command Line,
  59.                  "c:\ncc1701" into Working Directory, and
  60.             click on OK to install. The NCCC1701 Icon should appear
  61.                  in the active program group.

  64. NOTES:  NCC1701 requires Windows 3.1 or later
  65.         in standard or enhanced mode.
  66.  
  67.         NCC1701 version 1.1 requires VBRUN200.DLL in the
  68.         NCC1701 directory (or elsewhere on your path).
  69.         VBRUN100.DLL (the earlier version of the Visual
  70.         Basic Run Module) is NOT compatible with this
  71.         version of NCC1701.

  75. This version 1.10 of NCC-1701 requires
  76.  
  77.     Windows Version 3.1

  79. because it uses the TrueType Dingbats font shipped with
  80. version 3.1. If you install and use it with version 3.0 of
  81. Windows, the Short Run Scan will show different symbols
  82. for the ship, starbases, klingons and stars. Other than
  83. this symbology, NCC-1701 should be compatible with version
  84. 3.0 of Windows.
